Stole

Size:50cm (w) 2m (l)

This stole is created by using the “overcast stitches and fringes” method, which is all done by hand. You can enjoy a gentle touch that can only be created from hand stitching and it presents a different feel from a machine finished piece. Be playful with unique colors for the overcast stitch, and it can work as an accent for this simple stole.

We interviewed Anriko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
I chose to make a stole. I thought that the nuanced weave of this cotton linen fabric, combined with a gentle and soft texture would make a nice impression.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
It simply uses a long and rectangular fabric. By hand sewing, it aims to create a silky finish. When it comes to stole making, I personally prefer to do it by hand, rather than by machine.

KF: What are some tips for making this stole?
The method I used for this project was to wrap the thread around the edge of the fabric. You can also use blind stitching or ladder stitching, if you prefer. For a thread color, you may choose a color that stands out for fun.

KF: How should we use this stole in everyday situations?
The picture shows a basic styling example. With ample length, you can try different styling arrangement and coordination.

KF: Thank you very much, Anriko! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!

Long Tunic

Size: Back length 110cm

The shop windows in town are already adorned with new outfits for autumn. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the featured project is a long tunic that can be enjoyed from late summer through fall. The design of the fabric, dark woods from the 3min. 2017 AW collection, is derived from the evening forest, featuring many pieces of cutout papers. This basket weave cotton linen is thick yet delicate, making it suitable for clothing and matching bags.

We interviewed Anriko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF):What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
Including the texture of the basket weave, this fabric is perfect for making clothing. I wanted to fully utilize the large print with a posh color combination, so I chose to make a simple long-length tunic.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
With a bold slit, it creates a contrast with the bottoms worn inside. It is simple yet it is intended to accentuate the large print.

KF:What are some tips for making this dress?
From the dress making standpoint, the process is not that difficult. This particular weave tends to fray, so you should work on it fast after you cut the fabrics.

KF:How should we use this dress in everyday situations?
In the photo, it is styled with a wide-leg pair of pants. Or you can wear a long skirt. A large armhole allows you to comfortably wear an inner shirt. While a sleeveless style will look nice for a late summer, you can enjoy it by wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath in the upcoming season.
