This is a shoulder bag in which the body of the bag and the flap (lid) portion are integrated.
When the flap is folded back, the yellow lining fabric can be seen, which is a novel design♪ The featured fabric is echino’s linen canvas series, [glee]. The large floral pattern creates an attractive and different look depending on where you cut it from. The plain yellow lining fabric is also by echino, and both are made of a moderately thick cotton linen canvas, a suitable material for bag making.

We interviewed Yuki about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The featured fabric has a large pattern with a strong presence. It is recommended for making bags with a relatively large surface, as the bags create a more distinct impression than the small items do.
KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
This time I designed a fashionable double-flap design. I have made many bags, but this is my first attempt at a bag with an integrated opening. The flap is modest, but the curves give it a gentle look. You can use it with the lining fabric showing intentionally.
It can also be used without showing the contents by placing one flap inside.
KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
For this project, I made a shoulder strap using echino’s fabric’s salvage. When you know how to use remnants that would otherwise be thrown away, you will never again let them be wasted. The length of the strap reflects one-shoulder type this time, but if you make it 100cm, you can use it as a sakosh, or adjust the length of the strap to make a pochette. The size suits perfectly for a sub-bag. The integrated flap makes it relatively easy for even those who are not good at making bags to try their hand at it.
KF: How should we incorporate this bag into one’s styling?
The lining fabric is echino’s colored canvas linen. Monotone goes well with any color, so please enjoy changing the lining color to your liking and making it while matching it with your everyday wardrobe.
KF: Thank you very much, Yuki! Here are sewing tutorials along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
