Sparkling Star Square Bag made of machine pieced patchwork

Continued from the last project, along with Five Star Bag made of machine pieced patchwork, another machine pieced patchwork bag, Sparkling Star Square Bag is featured. This time, it is a mini shoulder bag. The remnants of colorful Irome clearly stand out against a subdued solid blue tone of echino. The star patchwork center is created by piecing together triangle square blocks. The bottom gusset looks cheerful by sewing together the remnants of Irome. On the second sheet of the sewing instructions, a detailed process of machine pieced patchwork is described. Why not challenge yourself with this new project?

naniIRO textile 2016 vol.1

A poetic world created by Naomi Ito

The April textile story is a special issue featuring naniIRO.
Started in 2002, naniIRO textile is a brand that incorporates Naomi Ito’s water color painting into fabrics. The brand’s name nani means beautiful in Hawaiian and IRO represents the meaning of color and harmony. A poetic gradation and bright coloration that take in the shades of light and water, gradual line and beautiful composition as a main piece…these elements turned the fabric into a painting and made this brand a Japanese pioneer of print fabrics featuring an artist. In the last 15 years of its history, 127 designs with 699 colors were created.

Lei nani – For beautiful corolla　JG10310(Double Gauze Cotton 100%）、JG10311 (Linen 100%)

From the beginning to the end, I drew these designs thinking that these flowers will be given as corolla and leis. For this reason, it is named Lei nani, a beautiful flower corolla in Hawaiian, with a hope that it is given to someone like a beautiful handmade crown of flowers.

Five Star Bag made of machine pieced patchwork

Size: 17.5cm (l) x 22.5cm (w) x 7.5cm (d)

The fun of making a patchwork is to come up with fabric and design combinations. The featured project is a bag made of machine pieced patchwork. Irome, a series of fabrics that were first introduced for patchwork and quilting, is used for the piece work. For the outer fabric, feel free to choose any solid color you like such as white or pink, depending on the color and patterns of the patchwork pieces.

Trefle Cucito

Double gauze for grown-ups in understated color tones

Soft and superabsorbent double gauze material is popular for making children’s clothing and face masks. Trefle Cucito was created with the hope that grown-ups will choose this soft double gauze fabric to enjoy its texture to make clothing. The flowers and butterfly motifs are finished in chic designs with understated color tones.

The polka dot designs are lined up in a rhythmic nature. The butterflies are hidden here and there among the double dots. Mustard color and blue fabric slightly remind you of Scandinavia. With this fabric, you can create a unique piece of clothing.

Pullover

Size: Shirt length 50cm

This is the second clothing project made from echino’s 2016 collection. The fabric used is flag. The dynamic design with fluttering flags will lift up your spirits. A bright combination of blue and yellow creates a stylish Scandinavian feel. Coordinating it with a skirt or pants in bright white will bring out the colors and design. It also looks good with a long sleeve T-shirt or a turtleneck.
