Large One Handle Bag

Size: 28cm (l) 41cm (w – top side) 31cm (bottom) 10cm (d)

Impressive with an eye-catching vermillion color, this one handle bag is made with echino’s embroidered series featuring a popular deer motif. Somewhat different from a print material, this embroidered fabric will let you enjoy a dimensional look. The addition of a gold ring on the handle makes this large bag with ample room appear mature and keeps it from being too casual.

We interviewed Yui about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The lovely embroidery throughout the fabric feels richer in tone than a printed fabric. I wanted to use as much area as possible with embroidery, so the bag ended up being large.
I also tried to create something rough and not too structured, while retaining the texture. Using remnants which still has lots of embroidery, you can make matching small items, like a pouch.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
It is a casual one handle bag with ample room for carrying things. The gold ring makes this bag look more mature and keeps the items from falling out of the bag.

KF:What are some tips for making this bag?
It is simple to make as long as you follow the correct sewing sequence!
When sewing the bag portion, please be careful not to accidentally sew the handle together.

KF: How should we use this bag in everyday situations?
This large bag with eye-catching color is casual, so it will be perfect for a relaxed and simple style of clothing.

KF:hank you very much, Yui! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!

We interviewed Anriko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
Taking advantage of the asymmetrical bold design layout, I tried to create an interesting look in the front, which appears simpler than the style in the back.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
As gauze fabric is not easy to sew smoothly, it is actually suitable for a design like this cardigan that does not have defined shoulders. The cotton 100% material does not accentuate the linear form of your body, but it will present a soft and cute impression.

KF:What are some tips for making this cardigan?
Double gauze is not a simple fabric to sew. So I recommend ironing prior to machine sewing and use plenty of pins to keep the fabric from misaligning.

KF: How should we wear this cardigan in everyday situations?
This cardigan’s very wide waistline is tightened with the ribbon. Depending on how you pull the ribbon – only in the back center, very tightly or loosely – it can create a different look. It will be fun trying to find your favorite style.

Fluffy Tote in Animal Print Fabric

This tote has a realistic yet cute design of lined-up animal heads, and it comes in soft textured interlock knit fabric. A thick #11 canvas is used for the bottom and handles. Additionally, the lining fabric in #8 canvas helps retain the smooth look of the interlock knit while making the bag solid and practical.

We interviewed Satomi about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The soft and smooth texture of the interlock knit fabric and a simple pencil touch drawing design works so well together. It was soothing to make a piece using this fabric. I chose a tote back as I best wanted to feature the kind and gentle look of the animal designs.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
To keep the stretchable interlock knit fabric steady, I used a light weight fusible interfacing on the back. Adding the opening fabric, bottom and handles also helps keep the fabric stable.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
When adhering the fusible interfacing, pay attention to the fabric’s elasticity as you iron for a clean finish. Using a thick canvas (#8 for this project) for the lining helps keep the solid shape.

KF: How should we use this bag in everyday situations?
If you prefer, you may add a pocket or rivets on the handle to dress it up.
Whether for everyday use, family outings, camping or BBQ in an outdoor setting, using this bag can definitely cheer you up.

KF:Thank you very much, Satomi! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
