This large size tote is perfect for an activity-oriented outing. The fabric from the KESHIKI’s asa no yama (morning mountain) series is filled with illustrations and the KESHIKI was created with the concept “A fabric that decorates everyday living like a landscape painting.” What is nice about this fabric is that with large patterns, you can enjoy a different look of the design depending on how you cut it.

We interviewed Yui about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
Taking advantage of the striking large pattern, I came up with a large size bag with a simple shape.
KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
In keeping with the KESHIKI’s natural image, a cotton cord is used for the handle. I really like the soft feel, making it a perfect fit for a spring outing.
KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
While it is easy to make this bag with simple straight stitches, the area for the cord becomes thick with multiple layers, creating different thicknesses. When sewing, please do it carefully and slowly, especially the corners.
KF: How should we use this bag in everyday situations?
It has ample room to carry a change of clothes or towel. I am sure it will become useful for the upcoming season. It will look so nice with a natural style of clothing.
KF: Thank you very much, Yui! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
