This convenient two-way bag can be carried by hand or over the shoulder. The African inspired fabric is matched with a natural unbleached rope. The fabric used for this bag is from the “African Fabric Style” series. Cotton linen sheeting is ideal for bag making.

Instructions

1.

Cut the fabrics.

2.

Sew the cord opening. Fold the short ends in three and apply stitches. With the front sides facing outside, fold in half lengthwise.

3.

Baste the piece from Step 2 to the front panel.

4.

With the front sides facing each other, sew the gusset.

5.

Sew the bottom gusset.

6.

Repeat the same process on the lining fabric. ※ No cord opening. Leave an opening for turning.

7.

Make the tab and handle.

8.

Insert D ring through the tab and swivel hook through the handle, and sew.

9.

Baste the tab. With the front sides facing each other, put together the outer and lining bags and sew all the way around at the top.

10.

Turn it inside out and close the opening for turning. Insert the rope and tie the ends.

11.

Attach the shoulder strap to finish.
