This is a two-way drawstring purse that can be used as a handbag or a shoulder bag. The fabric used for this purse is from the +HAyU fabric series, designed by wire artist HAyU. It is a thick and fluffy knit jacquard.

Instructions

Preparations

Cut the fabrics according to the measurement.

1.

Fold the tab fabric in four and sew two ends. Cut it in half, insert through D ring, then baste.

2.

With the front sides facing each other, sew together the outer fabric and lining fabric at both ends (34cm length).

3.

Re-fold the outer fabrics and lining fabrics respectively. Place the tab in-between and sew both ends, leaving an opening for turning for the cords.

4.

Make the 12cm gusset. Cut it off leaving 1cm. Secure the edge using zigzag stitches.

5.

Fold the seam of the cord opening and sew. There are total of four locations.

6.

Turn the bag inside out. Place the lining bag inside and apply stitches at 3cm from the top end.

7.

Fold the end of the 40cm-long bag tape by 2cm, and sew it onto the bag body.

8.

Fold the handle in half and sew, leaving 6cm from the bottom ends unsewn.

9.

Insert the waxed cords alternately using the opening and tie the ends.

10.

Make the shoulder strap.

11.

Attach the shoulder strap to the bag body to finish!
