Carry-On Bag – Free Sewing Tutorial

Materials:

  • Fabric: 90cm x 1m
  • Tape: 3cm wide x 2.8m
  • Zipper: 20cm x One piece
  • Zipper with Double Sliders x One piece

Size:about 31cm (l) about 29cm (w) about 15cm (gusset)


Instructions

1.

Cut the fabrics.

2.

Make a trolly sleeve. Fold the zipper end fabric by 1cm and attached it on both right and left side of the zipper as shown.

3.

With the front sides facing each other, sew together the pocket front surface and zipper.


Apply stitches from the front to secure the zipper and fabric.

4.

Sew together the pocket back surface and zipper as well.

5.

With the front sides facing each other, fold and sew at both sides. Apply zigzag stitches on the seam.


Turn it inside out and align the shape. Baste at 0.5cm from both right and left on the front.

6.

Attach it to the body. Sew over right and left basting stitch line from step 5.

7.

Attach the handle tape on the front and back of the body.

8.

Sew together the body and zipper with double sliders.


Apply stitches from the front to secure the zipper and fabric.

9.

Fold the tab for zipper ends in four. Apply stitches on the right and left edge and attach it to the right and left side of the zipper.

10.

With the front sides facing each other, fold the fabric and sew at the bottom. Apply zigzag stitches on the seam. Press down the seam to one side and apply stitches from the front.

11.

Fold the piece so that the zipper and bottom center are in alignment. Cut off four corners. Sew along the red dotted line in the picture. Apply zigzag stitches on the seam, and run stitches from the front to secure the fabric.

12.

Open four corners that were cut off in step 11, and fold as shown, then sew. Apply zigzag stitches on the seam.

13.

Turn it inside out and finish!
