This tote bag features an internal compartment. Its size accommodates a long wallet and water bottles, preventing items from getting lost inside and can keep things neatly organized. The fabric used for this bag is echino’s new [piece] pattern. This colorful, eye-catching fabric introduces a patchwork-like mix of various designs. Made from cotton-linen canvas, it’s an ideal material for bag-making.

Materials:

  • Fabric (Outer Fabric, Partition, Handle): 110cm x 80cm
  • Fabric (Lining Fabric): 110cm x 35cm
  • Fusible Interfacing: 90cm x 80cm

Instructions

1. Cut the body fabrics.

Cut two pieces each of outer and lining body fabrics. (30 x 45cm each)

2. Make the partition.

With the front sides facing each other, sew together the 20cm x 32cm cut fabrics with 1cm seam. Turn it inside out, and apply stitches at the top and bottom.

3. Make the partition for the PET bottle storage.

With the front sides facing each other, fold 17 x 24cm cut fabric in half. Sew all the way around, leaving an opening for turning. Turn it inside out and apply stitches at the top and bottom. Align the shape. Sew it onto the partition fabric at 8cm from the fabric edge. Attach the other side to the lining fabric.

4. Sew the lining fabric into a tube shape.

Baste the partition at 3cm lifted from the bottom. With the front sides facing each other, sew together the lining fabrics at the sides and bottom. Leave an opening for turning at the bottom for 10cm.

5. Attach the handle on the outer fabric.

Using the fabric cut to 10 x 35cm, make the handle. Attach each side of the handle to the outer fabric at 6 cm away from the center. Put the end 1cm outward and baste. Then sew the outer fabric into a bag shape.

6. Sew together the outer and lining fabrics.

With the front sides facing each other, sew together the outer and lining fabrics all the way around the top. Turn the bag inside out using the opening for turning. Close the opening and align the shape using an iron to finish.
