Two-Way Big Tote Bag – Free Sewing Tutorial

How to Make a Two-Way Big Tote Bag

Cut the fabric according to the measurements.

With the front sides facing each other, place the two outer fabric pieces together, sew the bottom edge, and press the seam allowances open. When aligning the fabric pieces, make sure the top and bottom of the pattern align.

Sew along both sides.

Sew with a 10-cm gusset, trim the fabric leaving a 1-cm seam allowance, and sew with a zigzag stitch.

With the front sides facing each other, fold the pocket fabric in half, then sew the pocket opening and both sides, leaving an opening for turning. Trim the corners of the seam allowances, then turn the pocket inside out.

Fold the seam allowance of the opening inward and sew it to the outer side of the lining fabric.

Make the lining fabric the same way as the outer fabric.

With the front sides facing outside, fold the fabric for the handles in four, and sew along both sides. Make 4 of these.

Fold the opening edges of the front and lining bags 1 cm toward the lining side, overlap them with the front sides facing outside, sandwich the handle between them, and sew all the way around the edge.
