Flat Pouch– Free Sewing Tutorial
Introducing a flat pouch with a lining and a 20cm zipper. It is perfect for storing stationery, cosmetics, or craft supplies. With a zipper separating the left and right compartments, the design offers enhanced convenience. The fabric used for this pouch is “London Town” by Cath Kidston, a lifestyle brand founded in Notting Hill, England. The cheerful pattern featuring London’s cityscape will make you feel like you are on a trip just by looking at it. Made from 100% cotton oxford fabric, it is easy to sew and highly suitable for making bags and pouches.

How to Make a Flat Pouch
-

Make the handle. With the front sides facing outside, fold it in quarters and sew the two ends of the long side.
-

Align the patterns on the two pieces of outer fabric. Since the patterns have a specific direction, perform this step first.
-

With the front sides facing each other, place the two outer fabric pieces together and sew along the long edge.
-

Sew the zipper onto the long edge of the outer fabric. Place the zipper with the teeth facing down so that the end of the zipper is 5 mm from the edge of the fabric, and sew at 5 mm from the end of the zipper.
-

Turn the lining fabric inside out, and align the center of the fabric with the center of the zipper.
-

Sew along both sides.
-

Trim the seam allowances and apply zigzag stitches on the edges.
-

Use a stiletto to bring out the corners.
