Video Tutorial: How to Make a Crossbody Bag

This video clearly explains the points that first-time sewers often struggle with, such as how to cut fabric, machine sewing tips, and how to align the fabric. A must-see for beginners!

Step-by-step photos: How to Make a Crossbody Bag

  1. Cut the fabric and make the outer pocket. With the front sides facing each other. align the zipper at the top of the outer pocket, so that it is sandwiched between the outer and lining fabrics, and sew with a 0.7 cm seam allowance.

  2. Use an iron to smooth it out.

  3. With the front sides facing each other, align the zipper at the bottom of the outer pocket, so that it is sandwiched between the outer and lining fabrics, and sew with a 0.7 cm seam allowance.

  4. Press the piece to set the shape, place it face up on the lining fabric, and sew around the edges with a 0.5 cm seam allowance. This completes the front panel of the outer fabric with the outer pocket.

  5. With the front sides facing each other, align the zipper, sandwiching it between piece ④ and the lining fabric. At this point, fold both ends of the zipper to the lining side and baste them in place.

  6. Sew with a 0.7 cm seam allowance.

  7. Stitching completed. This shows the condition of the back side of the zipper end.

  8. Sew the zipper onto the other side in the same way.

  9. Thread a D-ring through a 4-cm piece of synthetic leather tape, fold it in half, and temporarily secure it to ④.

  10. With the front sides facing each other, align the outer fabric pieces and the lining fabric pieces respectively, and sew all the way around, leaving an opening at the bottom of the lining for turning. Use a 1 cm seam allowance. Press the seam allowance toward the lining side.

  11. Turn it inside out, sew up the opening, and shape it. Tie the outdoor cord, and it is finished.
