With this drawstring bag, a frilly look is naturally created by tightening the top. The fabric used for this bag was born through a collaboration with Sanae Sugimoto, an attractive illustrator with a delicate touch and fantastic world drawn in black ink. The design highlight is the lined flower motifs sprinkled along the selvage, a portion that is used as ruffles for this project. The slightly thin cotton linen sheeting is suitable for bags and pouches, as well as for clothing such as dresses, skirts, and blouses that best features the bold pattern.

Materials:
- Fabric: 110cm wide x 1m
- Waxed Cord: 0.3cm diameter x 1.8m

Instructions
Preparation
Cut the fabrics according to the measurement.
1.
Fold the handle in four and sew both long ends. Make two pieces.
2.
With the front sides facing each other, sew together the outer fabric and lining fabric at the opening side with a handle in between.
3.
Press the seam open. With the front sides facing each other, fold the outer fabric and lining fabric in half respectively. Sew both sides, leaving an opening for turning for 10cm.
4.
Make the 8cm gusset and sew. Cut the excess and leave 1cm seam and finish with zigzag stitches.
5.
Turn it inside out and align the shape.
6.
Stitch around the top opening.
7.
With the front sides facing each other, fold the ruffle fabric in half and sew, leaving an opening for turning. Cut off the corner seam and turn it inside out. Make two pieces.
8.
Turn it inside out. Close the opening and sew three sides. Make two pieces.
9.
Place the ruffle fabric at 2cm below the top opening of the outer bag and sew onto the bag.
10.
Repeat the same process on the other side. Insert the wax cord in a crisscross manner and tie the ends.
11.
Close the opening for turning to finish!
