This single-layer, foldable and flat tote bag has a 2-way design with a long shoulder strap and a short handle. The fabric used for this bag is a series of reproductions of works by Alphonse Maria Mucha. The vivid colors of the digital prints will also look great as fabric panels. It is 100% cotton sheeting.

We interviewed Satomi about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
It is such a beautiful fabric made directly from a painting, so I made it into a flat square tote bag, inspired by fabric panels. The striped rope adds a nice accent to the whole look.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
It has a long shoulder strap as well as a short handle, making it a two-way style. I utilized the fabric edge with the signature of Mucha, the artist of the painting, and turned it into a tag.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?。
Since it is single layer, the fabric edges are finished with French seams. While it is a simple and easy method, it creates a beautiful finish.

KF: How should we incorporate this bag into one’s styling?
This painting-like tote bag is perfect to coordinate with simple styling. Being a single layer piece, it can be easily folded and carried around. Whether it is used as a main or secondary bag, it is a convenient piece. Please try making one!

KF: Thank you very much, Satomi! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
