Delicate flowers in a field of blooms is the design of this dress, which is accented with a gathered open neckline. For a relaxed look, it can be loosely worn, or for a going out, the dress will look proper with a matching fabric’s ribbon tied around the waist. From the yui series, 85% cotton and 15% linen combination fabric, poppy, is featured.

We interviewed Yoko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The printed flowers look as if they are softly touched by the wind. I incorporated this feel into the dress by making a transition to create a long flowing look.
KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
I changed the height of the transition line. It starts low in the front and becomes higher as you go around the back. This flowing line creates a pretty hipline.
KF: What are some tips for making this dress?
The grain of this fabric is orderly, making it easy to handle. When finishing the front neckline with a bias binding strip, please be careful not to stretch the neck length.
KF: How should we incorporate this dress into one’s styling?
As loungewear at home, it can be enjoyed by dressing it loosely. For a “not ordinary” going out piece, wear it with a matching fabric’s ribbon tied around the waist. Enjoy it for every occasion. As the dress has a smooth texture with a little see-through look, I recommend stylishly wearing it with an inner garment.
KF: Thank you very much, Yoko! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
