This large tote bag with plenty of room and a lovely shape is accented by the gathering at the top. The fabric used for this bag is echino’s [mingle], a large panel fabric featuring eight basic echino patterns. It is a cotton linen canvas that is suitable for bag making.

We interviewed Yui about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The bright colors lift your spirits! How delightful it is to be able to enjoy a variety of echino patterns all at once! While it would be cute to use one pattern at a time, I decided to go all out and include them in a larger bag!

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
The gathering at the top gives the bag a very cute shape. You can fully appreciate the pattern with even the handle in the same fabric. The 48cm width and 8cm gusset allow for a large size, making it convenient for days when you have a lot to carry.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
Since it requires only straight stitches, even beginners will find it easy to make. Iron it frequently during the process for a beautiful finish!

KF: How should we incorporate this bag into one’s styling?
It will look great with simple clothes! Having a large bag becomes handy to store outerwear when we frequently slip them on and off during the change of season.

KF: Thank you very much, Yui! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!
