Dinosaur Pattern: YGA-49070-2A

Materials:
□ Fabric: 57cm x 62cm
□ Plastic Snaps: Four Pairs (1.3cm diameter)

Size:30cm (l) 51cm (around the neck)

We interviewed Satomi about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
As the texture is smooth like a cross between gauze and fleece, I made it into a neck warmer and a face mask. Featuring kids’ favorite motifs of fairy tales and dinosaurs, I think they will be happy to use it because the material is not as stiff and scratchy as fleece.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
The snap buttons make it easy to put it on and take off, and if you stretch it out above your nose, it works as a face mask. The smooth fabric is also breathable and absorbent, making it a great neck warmer for kids.

KF: What are some tips for making this neck warmer?
As it is not a slip on/off tube-type warmer, you can use regular thread to sew. This is a simple project that requires only 7 straight stitches, and it can be made quickly.

KF: How should we incorporate this neck warmer into one’s styling?
Children’s masks come in various sizes, so it would be good if you could change the position of the plastic snaps and the size of the fabric according to your child’s body. When wearing it as a face mask, it is easier to use if the snaps are placed in the back. It’s more comfortable to your skin than fleece or boa, and it is foldable into a small piece, so you can use it to keep your child warm or as a mask in case of emergency. Once you get the hang of it, it’s an easy sewing project that can be done in a short time, so please give it a try.

We interviewed Yui about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
This fabric is full of comforting cats drawn with a gentle touch. It has a retro feel and is very cute. I made a fluffy mini bag to match the look of the soft and gentle pattern.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
The use of tucks and quilt batting creates a fluffy feel. A darker solid color fabric and a well-made synthetic leather handle are added to give it a more mature look.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
There are not many parts, so you can make it easily. When you look at the bag from the side, it will appear beautiful if the transitions of the fabric are perfectly in line. Be careful when aligning the front and back of the bag with the front sides facing each other.

KF: How should we incorporate this bag into one’s styling?
It can be carried over the shoulder even when wearing a coat, so it looks good as an accent to a winter wardrobe that tends to be in darker tones.

Materials:
□ Fabric: 110cm wide x 50cm
□ Fusible Interfacing: 70cm x 30cm
□ Double Fold Bias Binding Tape: 1.5cm wide x 155cm
□ Tag of your choice: One piece (see photo)

Size:15.5cm (l) 21cm (w) 7cm (d)

We interviewed Satomi about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The warm red color was so striking that I made it into a fabric accessory that you can keep small items neatly organized in a simple bag.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
It is designed to stand on its own, with piping and flaps to keep things from popping out.

KF: What are some tips for making this?
Since there is a lot of piecing together, regular or thin fabric is easier to pipe than thick fabric. If you want to make it stand on its own, use a thicker interfacing. Feel free to change the pocket dividers according to the size of the items you want to put inside.

KF: How should we use this bag in everyday situations?
Bag-in-bags are a great way to keep small items neatly organized in a large or simple bag. What is nice about handmade bags is that you can freely create pockets for pens, spare masks, lipstick, hand cream, and other items that you use all the time. Enjoy your winter handicraft time by making your own size bag-in-bag with various fabrics.
