We interviewed Yui about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
I love these color tones and I was so excited to think about what to make! This stylish fabric is perfect for both clothing and fashion accessories. So I decided to make a backpack with handles all in the same fabric.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
Since I like the cross-body bag, I came up with a design that can be used as a cross-body bag as well as a backpack. For convenience and to make a statement, a crude looking black Vislon zipper is used. When carrying it as a backpack and looking at it from the front, you notice a cute handle, which I like.
To match the glitter tone of the fabric, a glossy faux leather pocket fabric is selected.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
There are two zippers that need to be attached. It does not have to be placed in the exact location indicated in the pattern. If zipper attachment is not your strength, then allow for enough seam and comfortably attach it where the machine needle will not interfere.

KF: How should we use this bag in everyday situations?
The addition of the zipper, plastic snaps and glossy faux leather turns this bag’s look slightly sporty, making it a perfect companion for a T-shirt wearing everyday wardrobe. Why not make it personal by choosing the zipper and parts in your favorite colors?

KF: Thank you very much, Yui! Here are sewing instructions along with step by step photos from her. Enjoy crafting!

Materials:
□ Fabric: 110cm wide x 3.1m

Size: Dress length 117cm Ribbon 3cm (w) 180cm (l)

We interviewed Yoko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The printed flowers look as if they are softly touched by the wind. I incorporated this feel into the dress by making a transition to create a long flowing look.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
I changed the height of the transition line. It starts low in the front and becomes higher as you go around the back. This flowing line creates a pretty hipline.

KF: What are some tips for making this dress?
The grain of this fabric is orderly, making it easy to handle. When finishing the front neckline with a bias binding strip, please be careful not to stretch the neck length.

KF: How should we incorporate this dress into one’s styling?
As loungewear at home, it can be enjoyed by dressing it loosely. For a “not ordinary” going out piece, wear it with a matching fabric’s ribbon tied around the waist. Enjoy it for every occasion. As the dress has a smooth texture with a little see-through look, I recommend stylishly wearing it with an inner garment.

Fabric shown for this sample: (Outer Fabric a, Handle, Tab, Pocket) YHA-11000-1A

Materials:
□ Fabric (Outer Fabric a, Handle, Tab, Pocket): 110cm wide×40cm
(Outer Fabric b): 38cm×38cm
(Lining Fabric): 38cm×62cm
□ Magnetic Clasp (Sew on type): 1 pair (1.4cm diameter)

Size: 22cm (l) 20cm (w) 16cm (gusset width)

We interviewed Mioko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
A summer-like design and colors are so charming and invigorating! Its solid texture is easy to handle, making it perfect for a bag.

KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
To make use of the fabric’s solid texture, I chose a square shape. The bottom portion’s #8 canvas and inner side’s thick oxford fabric add extra sturdiness! An ample gusset and wide handles that are attached parallel to the front and back surfaces add uniqueness. With a wide opening, it is easy to take things in and out. The side tab for closure will give you peace of mind.

KF: What are some tips for making this bag?
It only requires straight stitching, so I am sure you can make it easily. If you want to make sure that the outer bag and inner bag are sewn at the top in alignment, I recommend basting to be part of the process.

KF: How should we incorporate this bag into one’s styling?
Carry it with an extra-summery outfit, like a pure white T-shirt and a pair of jeans. It will be perfect. While I matched a blue-gray canvas for the bottom of this example, a vivid red or refreshing white will also make it stylish. A different way of enjoying this bag is to add a long strap through a looped tab.
